Brazn started in Jul 2016 when they developed what they termed an IoT Operating System (OS) which was able to ingest various IoT protocols via the cloud and allowed a user to configure these signals into business cases using their own “Smart Rules Engine” which is essentially a way to set data thresholds and alert options.

Tin Men’s viewpoint was that Brazn cannot stay generic and compete with the IoT software giants of the world, but should instead pick verticals where they can apply their platform deeply and win market share in SEA.

Brazn heeded the advice vacated its initial positioning to focus on Smart Facilities and Smart Agriculture, using the Brazn Core platform to build out Buildos and Agrios – respectively helping facilities owners monitor and manage Security, Crowd-Control, Utilities optimization; and soft crop growers monitor ground and environment variables to maximize crop yield, predict and prevent infestation and perform accurate harvest planning.

Tin Men also helped extend their product roadmap to include Smart Retail where there was demand for a simple to implement, cost scalable solution for retail chains to monitor their outlets in terms of retail customer analytics, staff performance monitoring and utilities savings all on a single platform. This was named Retailr.

By end 2018, Brazn had achieved top name traction, with Loxley Co, Ltd inking a long term partnership to re-sell Smart Facilities to their customers, resulting in immediate installs; secured an Agrios pilot with Sunsweet of Chiangmai for 15 hectares of sweet corn, leading up to potential implementation across 10,000 hectares; and also scored pilot pick-ups for Smart Retail with 2 massive convenience store chains, and a few F&B outlets. It had achieved product-market fit across 3 verticals in 1 year.

Most of the funds raised from Tin Men is to immediately rev up its R&D team so as to deliver at a faster pace, and developing a strong Customer Success team to address and keep up with opportunities across Malaysia and Thailand, and to open up the Indonesia market.
