Official Release 30 June 2026— Tin Men Capital, a Singapore-based venture capital firm backing enterprise and frontier technology startups in Southeast Asia, has appointed Arielle Thompson as Global Head of Capital Formation and promoted John Tay to Director of Partnerships and Strategy, in the firm’s largest institutional buildout since inception.

The appointments deepen Tin Men’s support for its portfolio companies and its diverse global LP base. Thompson’s role creates a permanent capital formation function connecting global institutional investors, family offices, and strategic allocators with the firm’s Southeast Asian enterprise technology portfolio.

Connecting global capital with Southeast Asian enterprise technology

Based in Cleveland, Thompson leads Tin Men’s global capital formation strategy, investor relations, and institutional positioning across North America, Europe, and broader Asia. Her mandate includes deepening relationships with the firm’s existing LPs and broadening engagement with institutional investors, family offices, funds of funds, and strategic allocators.

Her broader advisory experience includes HubSpot, Jonathan Rose Companies, Goodegg Investments, Crown Capital, and Redemption Bank, whose co-founder is Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of Rev. Thompson has advised C-suite executives, investment managers, former U.S. ambassadors, and private companies on capital strategy, investor positioning, and fundraising strategies across venture, real estate, and private markets. She holds an MBA and dual bachelor's degrees in Finance and Economics from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and studied Mandarin at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

"Tin Men has built a portfolio of remarkable Southeast Asian startups and a track record that the global institutional market is paying attention to," said Arielle Thompson, Global Head of Capital Formation at Tin Men Capital. "As global capital increasingly flows toward Southeast Asia, the opportunity now is to connect the firm with globally-minded families and institutions that understand the next generation of category leaders is already being built here, and that the window to recognise that shift is now."

Strategic depth at home

Tay’s promotion expands his remit beyond external partnerships into a firm-wide strategic role. He leads Tin Men's institutional strategy, regional ecosystem engagement, and long-term organisational development as the firm scales to support Southeast Asia’s next generation of tech founders.

He sits on the board of Crater, a Singapore-based non-profit, is a Singapore Global Leaders Network Fellow (2025) and ASEAN Youth Fellow (2025), and holds a Bachelor's in International Business from Royal Holloway, University of London.

"Tin Men has always been driven by a belief that Southeast Asia deserves globally recognised companies built in the region," said John Tay, Director of Partnerships and Strategy at Tin Men Capital. "As an emerging fund that has consistently outperformed the market, our focus remains supporting founders and building an enduring institution that can serve the region for decades. I’m truly honoured to be able to continue strengthening how we engage stakeholders across Southeast Asia while scaling the firm's capabilities, culture, and long-term strategy."

Scaling alongside Southeast Asia’s best

"We are building the team to match the ambition of our portfolio companies and the markets we operate in," said Murli Ravi, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Tin Men Capital. "Arielle and John represent where Tin Men is headed. Arielle strengthens our ability to pull institutional capital toward Southeast Asian enterprise tech, while John ensures we have strong relationships with our most important stakeholders throughout the region."

"The opportunity in Southeast Asia's enterprise and deep technology sector continues to grow, and so do the expectations placed on venture firms operating in the region," said Jeremy Tan, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Tin Men Capital. "Supporting the next generation of globally significant companies requires more than capital. It requires strong investor relationships, deep regional networks, and the ability to organise around those strengths. These appointments reflect our commitment to building that platform for the coming decades."
